Hello, first time BMW owner here and I have a question - The brakes on my new X1 feel extremely 'stiff', as if I have to put a greater amount of effort that I am used to in order to stop quickly, and even remain at a stop (otherwise the car creeps forwards). The steering I know is hydraulic assist and that explains the stiffness there, but the brakes I would imagine not much difference than any other decently build vehicle. The car does 'hunt' a little bit when driving straight but coming from Electronic assist steering I kind of expected that.Quick Navigation 2012+ X1 (E84) Go Top Site AreasSettingsPrivate MessagesSubscriptionsWho's OnlineSearch ForumsForums HomeForumsGeneral BMW Discussion General BMW sponsored by Intercity Lines BMW Employee and Technician TalkBMW MotorcyclesBMW Rides & Events The Photoshop ShopPicture RequestsPaint and Body WorkSittin' LowLighting sponsored by BAVToysForced Induction For Sale Parts ClassifiedsTrack, Auto-X & Drag Racing sponsored by Bimmerparts.com Track Car BuildsDrag RacingDriftingProfessional Motorsports sponsored by BimmerworldSuspension Tech and Handling sponsored by eBMWParts.comTire & Wheel Forum sponsored by The Tire Rack Wheels & Tires For Sale / WantedCar Audio & Electronics sponsored by Bavarian SoundwerksCar Detailing and Show & Shine Prep sponsored by Autogeek.netGeneral BMW Mechanical Help sponsored by RM European Auto PartsEngine ConversionsAlternative Fuels BMW Advanced DieselHybrid / ActiveEDiagnostic SoftwareKill StoriesBMW Models 1 Series & 2 Series (E81, E82, E87, E88, F20, F22, F23) 1 Series M Coupe3 series & 4 Series (E21, E30, E36, E46, E9x, F30, F32, F33, F44) 1975 - 1983 (E21)1983 - 1991 (E30)1991 - 1999 (E36)1999 - 2006 (E46)2006 - 2012 (E90, E91, E92, E93)2012+ (F30, F32, F33, F34)5 Series (E12, E28, E34, E39, E60, E61) 1982 - 1988 (E28)1988 - 1996 (E34)1996 - 2003 (E39) E39 Touring / Wagon2004-2010 (E60,E61)2011+ (F10)6 Series (E24, E63, E64) 1976 - 1989 (E24)2004+ (E63, E64)7 Series (E23, E32, E38, E65, E66, F01, F02) 1978 - 1987 (E23)1988 - 1994 (E32)1995 - 2001 (E38)2002 - 2008 (E65, E66)2009+ (F01,F02)8 Series (E31)M series 2011 1 Series M Coupe (E82)1987 - 1991 M3 (E30)1992 - 1999 M3 (E36)1994 - 1999 Euro M3 (E36)2001 - 2006 M3 (E46)2008 - 2013 M3 (E90, E92, E93)2014 M3 & M4 (F80, F82)2000 - 2003 M5 and Z8 (E39, E52)2006 - 2010 M5 & M6 (E60, E61, E63, E64)2010+ M5 & M6 (F10, F12, F13)X Series (E84, E53, E70, E71, E83, F25) 2012+ X1 (E84)2003+ X3 (E83,F25)1999+ X5, X6 (E53, E70, E71)Z (Roadsters & Coupes) Z3 (E36/7, E36/8)Z4 (E85, E86)Z4 (E89)Z3,Z4,Z8 Classifieds2002MINI (Cooper & Cooper S)Classics 1968-1977 (E3,E9)1966-1974 2002IsettaBMW Classifieds BMW Cars For Sale / Wanted sponsored by BMW of BloomfieldBMW Parts For Sale sponsored by Bavarian Auto Recycling Brake Kits, Rotors & PadsCar Audio & ElectronicsDrivetrain & Transmission PartsEngines, Performance Parts & SoftwareExterior Lighting & Body PartsInterior Lighting & Body PartsSuspensions, Springs & ShocksWhole Parts CarsRace Cars & Track PartsForced & Chemical Induction PartsWheels and TiresBMW Parts Wanted sponsored by Bavarian Auto RecyclingGroup Purchases & Supporting Vendor Specials presented by eBayVendor Comments & Supporting Vendor InfoRegional Car Clubs & Events Regional Discussions & Events California sponsored by Avus AutosportGreat Lakes - US WisconsinGreat Plains & Rocky Mountains - USMiddle Atlantic - USNew England - USNew York / New Jersey / ConnecticutPacific Northwest - USSoutheastern - US CarolinasFloridaLouisianaGeorgia sponsored by Harrison MotorsportsTennesseeSouthwestern - US TexasOklahomaUtahHawaii & Other IslandsAustralia / New ZealandCanadaEuropeIrelandSouth / Latin AmericanSouth AfricaJapanOff-Topic Photography & Multi MediaVideo GamingForum Software & Other AnnouncementsForum Software Questions & SuggestionsTestingYou may not post new threadsYou may not post repliesYou may not post attachmentsYou may not edit your postsForum RulesI know there was a recall but I just purchased this car last week, and I would imagine the dealership had already taken care of that (BMW Motorwerks in Bloomington, MN).
Is this something I should just get used to, or any other X1 drivers out there have a very different experience?
BTW I've owned many types of cars over the years, from Audi's to Mazda's and Hyundai's and the engine in this thing is simply fantastic (2.0L Turbo).
Thanks for any input,
Matt Sweeney
