There has been some discussion about this and its effects. I have looked at the service manual

but find it a little confusing and of course it relies on special tools. Is there a DIY anywhere that covers this important procedure?

I don't understand how the transmission mounting plate is adjusted. Is it centered in the body? The tool shown in the manual seems to referencing the side rail.

you are referring to installing the transmission on the engine? or putting the engine and transmission into the car?
