Need help car dying abruptly..

Hey I have a 1994 325is its my first car and Im trying to figure out something. Yesterday u was stopped at an intersection and when I wanted to go the car stalled out , I started the car and it drove then I stopped again to make a turn once it was open for me to turn the car stalled out and didn't start it just started cranking, later that day I came back to the car with my toolbox to figure out what was wrong, but I tried starting it, it started then stalled. Then I tried again and I drove it home. That night it was running without any problems took it for a long drive and nothing. This morning I drove it to school and while I was driving in the parking lot it died and i manages to roll it into the spot, also when the key was in the on position the rpm gauge was going crazy, going past 7000 mark. All the help is needed I'm just learning about cars thanks.
