Air Bag Code 00240

On the coldest day of the year here in Minnesota, my 03 325i decided to complain by turning on the air bag warning light. I scanned for codes and came up with 00240 symptom 00F0 - undocumented code, and 50 - voltage low. Upon trying to erase these, my scanner reported "cannot erase codes". After a short search for answers, I've come up with nothing viable. I hit a small pothole yesterday and now wonder if it had anything to do with it. I'll do some more investigating Friday, but until then, I figured I'd see if anyone's had this happen to them.

No heat on feet

My 1994 325is does not blow air (hot or cold) on the feet setting. It will switch between the defrost and center vent. It will blow hot and cold from those two settings. I have analog controls. Is there a cable loose somewhere? I cannot seem to find anyone with a similar problem. Thanks!

85 Euro Parts forsale for folks in the NW

I was really going to fix this but after adding up all the costs and the lack of a place to do it I have decided to sell the whole car or part it out. I don't really have the time to box and ship most of this so would like to sell to people up in the northwest if at all possible.

The engine has 161K on it. I did a valve job with timing chain and rebuilt injectors at 142K. Other than a slight rough idle it has been a great running car. It's an auto with no LSD. If it was a stick with an LSD I would probably find some way to keep it. With the damage to the front end and dent behind the drivers door I have lost interest in all the body work. Small things I can probably handle shipping.

The seats are listed on Craigslist for $300.

Here are the seats first. I pulled them from an early model Euro 635. No idea if they were original or not. Still in pretty good shape.

Is 15 MPG normal for my chariot?

Hello everyone,



Happy holidays! I have a 1990 325i convertible and I'm averaging about 15MPG, is this common? If not, what can I do to improve fuel economy? I've already replaced my O2 sensor, as well as temp sensor. Could the issue lie with the fuel pump? fuel return line? or would I need an adjustable fuel pressure regulator or perhaps a fresh set of fuel injectors?

Picked up an '04 325i with a couple of issues. Is the C110 scan tool the tool of choice? I see different versions available up to ver 3.3. Any/all feedback appreciated.

HELP!!!! Transmission does not shift at all

1995 525i - GM 4L30E transmission



I have searched many places but can't find anything quite like this. Any input can help.



The car will not shift at all. The selector shows it changing but nothing engages. Engine turns on fine. No whining sounds at all.



I literally bought the car like this so i dont know any back info on it. Battery was dead when i got it so probably doesnt have enough time to trigger a trans code if it did.



I haven't been able to get my hands on a transmission pressure gauge to test pressure yet. When i do i can post numbers. I am just trying to be proactive and inquire just in case its a smaller issue that some other person has encountered.



I would like to be able to document it all on here with a remedy/solution so we can help any other future bimmians. Thanks for all your help in advance bimmer brothers.

HELP!!!! Transmission does not shift at all

Philips LED Festoon bulb issue

As I'm sure everyone here knows the E39 and newer vehicles have very sensitive OBD's. When I researched fitting my entire vehicle with LED lighting I was made aware of certain situations where an LED bulb would prompt a CEL.



The LEDs extremely low consumption actually fools the OBD into thinking the bulb is burnt / missing.





The bulb in question is a:



Philips X-Treme Vision 6000k 38mm festoon style bulb.



It puts off great light, doesn't look cheesy etc. It also is completely weatherproof / enclosed which makes it perfect for license plate applications. It's even fitted with its own heat sink.



This really stinks because other cheaper LEDs have not triggered a CEL but burnt out after 3+ months. The LED seems perfect but I'm guessing it had no built in resistor?

Polk db5251 Component Speakers for 2000 M Roadster Doors

So after spending a few days trying to search for and read all of the various threads on the sound systems in these cars, I think I have decided that the Polk db5251 component speakers should make for a good replacement of the door speakers in my 2000 M Roadster.



I've only had the car a few months, but after some troubleshooting last night (adjusting the fade and balance) I am pretty sure the door speakers are either blown or have gotten wet at some point - they sound horrible.



I am not into car audio at all - and really just want something to make the radio and CD player sound tolerable again. I don't intend to upgrade or replace any of the other speakers, amps, or the head unit in the car.

Where do the crossovers get installed? Are there stock crossovers I will have to remove and replace with these?



I plan to take the door panels off this week and try to get a better look at what I will be working with...

Polk db5251 Component Speakers for 2000 M Roadster Doors

E90 trunk won't open electronically

Hi guys,



New to the forum. The issue I’m trying to troubleshoot is that the trunk will not open with any electronics (’08 328xi). Luckily, it can still be opened manually with the key. Here’s what I’ve been able to uncover thus far:

• The valet switch is in the unlocked position and has been toggled to make sure a proper connection is made.


• The connector going into the trunk actuator only sees 7.8 volts when any of the electronic buttons are activated (fob, button below the dash, or the button inside the trunk handle). I was told this actuator needs 12 volts to function.


• The button below the dash is seeing a constant 8.3 volts.


• The wires within the harness going from the trunk lid into the cabin below the rear window appear to be intact (the normal fatigue point from what I’ve read).


• Have not checked all the fuses myself, but dealer stated there were no blown fuses (story below).

Is there another wire fatigue point or a quick relay / connection to check? Any thoughts before I start tracing the wires would be greatly appreciated.





Here’s the story (that I feel started this whole issue):

A couple months back I sheared a motor mount bolt, and either the bolt or the mount itself dropped and cut some wires that short circuited the car. The dealer repaired the mount and wires; however, after picking up the car, the trunk couldn’t be opened electronically. I find it a bit too coincidental that wires were cut/fixed and now I’m having an electrical issue. The dealer stands by not touching any of those wires/connections. I don’t know enough about where all the wiring is to agree with or refute their viewpoint.

Okay guys im about to head into work, so I apologize in advance for not having time to do more research here,



But since last night the gauge cluster has been dead on my car. The CEL and SRS faults I've had still light up, along with the cluster when I turn the lights on, but the gauges stay dead and my OBC just shows dots. Also my wipers won't work... :(



Praying it's just a fuse. Im going to do some checking on my lunch break. Thanks guys

E39 528 Touring level control system coding

Hi Guys,



my name is Peter I'm from Germany and I have a problem with my 528 Touring (make 1997). Hope somebody can help.

The last owner changed the air suspension to a normal suspension. The result is a shining level control lamp on my speedo.

Therefore I tried to deactivate the level control lamp with NCS expert. I'm not sure if the commands in English and German are equal but I changed the conding of the LCM like this:

"Luftfederung aktiv" to "Luftfederung nicht_aktiv" and "Niveauregulierung inaktiv melden" to "Niveauregulierung inaktiv nicht_melden"



When I start the car now the lamp goes of for a second but directly comes on again. Does somebody know if I need to change something else?

Not sure if important but the compressor, air suspension ecu etc. are removed of the car.

1Series All Mid range exceleration misfire

I have a 2008 135i. I'm having a mid range misfire as I get onto the freeway. If I get into the excelerator hard, there's no misfire. But, if I press the peddle mid way sometimes I get a misfire. The car doesn't trow and error codes. Anyone had this happen to them? Possible coil starting to fail? Possible injector going bad? Computer issue? Any help or input would be great.

Appreciate the feel of driving a BMW

I own a 2011 BMW 328xi and enjoy very bit of driving of it. This was my first "real car" after my cheap crappy old sentra broke down in 2011.

Before buying this car, I also tried Audi and Mecerdes for test driving but was not impressed by either of them.

In fact, I didn't remember how it felt to drive them...until last week.



My wife and I went to Hawaii and rent a Mecerdes.

Although the interior definitely was decent, the drive was pretty bad.

It was floaty, disconnected and too quiet.

Admittedly, some people, especially passengers including my wife, might like this "smooth" feel, , I found it was unbearable for driver.

when I drive my BMW, it is more dynamic and fun and we are indeed connected like one.



My next car is probably going to be another BMW:) I am not sure what I should get though.

Does the M series lack the luxury feel at all?

Is rear drive really more fun?

I still look for a combination of luxury feel and performance but definitly can use some step-up in performance caterogy.

More experienced BMW owners, Please share your thoughts. Really appreciate it:)

E39 2001 530i Heated Seat Not Working

Just bought a 2001 BMW 530i (Automatic). The passenger heated seat does not work. An error code scan says that there is an open circuit. What should I do first to remedy this problem? Thanks, Carlisle.
