PO327 Knock Sensor 1

hi folks -- brand new here although i have lurked and found the forums rather helpful in the past.

i am hopeful for any thoughts on the following:

last month I purchased a 2001 740i with 97,000 miles; the car had been sitting for almost a year. very nice condition, 1 owner, very clean so thought it would be a nice upgrade from my 1999 740iL.

took the car to DMV for inspection and failed with one code -- P0344 camshaft position sensor, Bank 1.

Purchased Camshaft sensor from Barvarian Autosport and a buddy installed it last weekend.

After install we turned off check engine light however after about 30-45 minutes of driving the check engine light came back on. Hooked back up to buddy's computer and the P0344 is gone, however, i now have a P0327 Knock Sensor 1, Circuit Low Input (Bank 1). We turned off the check engine light again but it came back on the next morning.

For what it is worth, when i purchased car it had 3/4 of a tank of gas. I have put gas in 2x since purchase and both times I put in Sunoco 93 octane.

When I called Bavarian Autosport for the knock sensor they suggested I try Liqui Moly Six Month Renewal Kit. The reccomendation for the Renewal Kit was based on the fact that the car had sat for awhile.

Of course, after placing order for renewal kit, i searched the forums and the feedback on their use was mixed but more importantly, I don't have a ton of time to deal with a 6-month regiment given I have less than 30-days to get issues fixed and get car reinspected.

Given the above, any thoughts on best way to attack the P0327 error code? Is there anything to be gleaned from the P0327 code not being present on the motor vehicles inspection report but appearing shortly after installing the camshaft sensor? and both are bank 1 related??

Additionally, is this renewal kit reccomended given the circumstances as outlined above?

Apologies for the long, detailed post however i thought the background might assist -- many thanks for any assistance - Rich.
