Anyone familiar with older Clarion head units?

I have an '87 535is with a Clarion DRX6475 radio/CD player unit (circa ~1998) and I'm thinking of re-installing the OE Pioneer KE-81 unit, just for the sake of appearance and originality (honestly, I don't listen to much music while driving this car). However, I've been told that Clarion has made some very good head units especially in the late 1990s. Does anybody know if this particular Clarion is a significant upgrade in performance and quality over the OE stereo? If it is, I'd consider leaving it in there.
