Question about steering wheel install

ok, i am replacing my stock single stage steering wheel with another stock steering wheel. My original didn't have heat and the used replacement I bought has heat. I don't need heat - I live in Phoenix. Plus the replacement didn't come with a clock spring and I am using my original.

Can I cut the wires going into the steering wheel? Or just mount it without connections in case someone wants to wire it someday?

By the way, I replaced my original because the leather on the top had been destroyed from sun damage. You can see the damage on the top which is pointed at the shifter. Common sun damage failure on these.

OK, here is a picture of the new wheel. I am talking about removing the wires attached to the white plastic cover/retainer hanging at 5:00 position. Note that I installed the "new" steering wheel last night connecting the clock spring and routing the wires you see coming through the steering wheel/steering column.

I really wish I purchased a sport wheel, but trying to rein in the budget somewhere. haha

Thanks.
