Surging and rough idle

I have a 92' 325i that I replaced the head and put all new intake gaskets. And vacuum lines.

But I have been chasing a rough surging idle.

I put a vacuum gauge on it when it was warmed up and I got right around 12-14" which seems a bit low but I have 0 vacuum leaks. I even smoke tested the intake.

Today I put a scan tool on it. I had the obd1 connector. To my surprise I could actually read live data. Coolant temp was spot on with intake air so I know those are good. The only one that was out of the ordinary was rpm.

From what the scan tool was showing it would fluctuate between 0-500 rpm at idle but it stayed mostly at 0-20.

But my rpm gauge itself reads fine.

I have no cell on the dash but on the scan tool I was getting a code 16 which on the scan tool said crank pulse generator.

What are your thoughts?

Could it all be due to my cam to cam timing. I did not use the can hold down tool when doing can timing.

If it helps it is a non vanos 92. It is actually a 5/92.

Thanks

Curtis

E46 headlight lenses, good shape!

These just came off my 05 M3 convertible with HID/Xenon lights. BMW part numbers may be different for HID vs Halogen so please double check, I'm not responsible for your error! 100k miles on them, so just normal pitting. No cracks leaks, nothing like that. I didn't bother wet sanding or polishing, just replaced. They're pretty good so I hate to trash them.

According to Turner Motorsports site, fits the following BMWs:

1999-2003 E46 BMW 323ci 325ci 328ci 330ci

2001-2006 E46 BMW M3

New are 65 per side. Looking for $40 shipped OBO.

sparkplug(and others) change for a 2003 540

My 540 has only about 39,800 miles on it as of last night. I am planning to replace the sprakplugs soon just because of the age of the car, and not because of of mileage. Am also looking at replacing the radiator hoses. Does this make sense?

Also, when I first start the car, I can hear some rattle coming from the engine bay. The noise goes out about 5 seconds later. What could be causing it?

Thanks..

im hoping its an O2 sensor & not the cat? but not sure : ( ?? any help is appreciated. Dont want to spend lots of money on a new cat if it is an o2 sensor problem?

1998 e36 with heated seats

Hi guys. I have a 1998 e36 318i convertable. It has heated seats but the bases don't heat up. The seat-backs do heat up but just not the bases. This is the same for both seats. Any ideas? I have checked fuses and they seem ok.

02 535i has a strange "bogging down" when at cruizing speed.

This strange bogging down only occurs when I am cruizing through town or on a highway with the gas held slightly, not accelerating and not decelerating. It has no cold start issues or rough idle. I have been checking all vaccum lines and changed my spark plugs. The only issue the car has is a bad wheel speed sensor. I would really appreciate any guidance and help.

Justin.
