The dust has settled and the CSi is safely back in the garage after an award winning outing at the BMW plant in Greer, SC at this year's Euro Auto Festival. The South Carolina up-country weather could not have been any finer, as was the showing of the largest gathering of 8er's in the East in celebration of 8@25. AH-U-G-E THANK YOU goes to Greg who organized the accommodations at the Hilton House of 8's and special E31 banquet for all the participants. Another B-I-G THANKS goes to Roger for putting together our new BMW CCA E-31 Chapter. If you haven't joined, you're missing out. EVERYONE enjoyed themselves in South Carolina and the weekend was over in a flash!
The Euro weekend officially started with a Friday lunch-time gathering at The Varsity Gwinnett restaurant in Atlanta where a dozen intrepid travelers coming from points all over had a luncheon lay-over before we all caravanned to the BMW Foundation Museum and Archives near the BMW plant and Performance Center in Greer. Afterwards it was on to the House of 8's for some libation with a reception by the Hilton, followed by a special banquet in our honor. The next day dawned cool but warmed up nicely as all the 8's sat beside the BMW Zentrum Museum in all their gleaming glory. Two Alpina's, several CSi's, a large number of 850's including some Canadian and Euro models, along with the finest gathering of 840's I've ever seen were all present on the field. Roger Wray's brand spanking new Alpina B12 5.0 was a featured exhibit INSIDE the Zentrum taking the breath away from all who viewed his silver bullet. Late in the day the awards were handed out and the 8er's received their fair share. The Euro weekend climaxed at the Embassy Suites Hotel and Resort where there was another banquet for all the Euro attendees. It was announced that BMW will be the featured marque for next year's Euro Auto Festival, so we'll have yet another chance to be a special part of this wonderful show.
