Hi all.
I am trying to find a 12V power source central to the center console that will do 3 things: power on when the car is remote-unlocked, stay on while the key is in and ignition starts, and turn off with the 16min sleep mode timer once the car is off and locked.
I went through and multimeter-checked the 3 connection points I could think of. The 18pin Bluetooth ELO plug, the lock/flasher lights, and the light for the Automatic Trans' gear selector (orange dot next to Park).
Verdict is the BT plug has what appears to be constant 12V and 9V(?) power from 2 pins in the 18pin hookup, but no ignition or switched power.
Flashers I couldn't find a way to get a signal worthy of tapping into, so for now I am overlooking them.
The gear selector light has a plug with 2 hot power sources, constant 12V and unlock/sleep-linked 12V Acc. It functions the same as the map lights that dim on and off with the key.
Question Is there any reason I shouldn't tap into the power sources for the gear selector light? Is there a better source local to the console I am missing? Optimally I am looking for hookups to the "puddle light" circuit that controls the dimming on and off features for the map lights.
This is the hookup in ref:
