I have been wanting an E38 for a quite a few months now. I wasn't willing to travel too far to get one, but I live in Phoenix so there were quite a few choices. I wanted silver with the black side skirts. I had no preference for i or iL. I did want a sport, but I came to the conclusion that sports could not be found with the black side skirts. I mostly just wanted a sport for the shadowline anyway, and I figured I could just change that myself. So after 3-4 months of waiting for the right car to show up, I ended up with a 2000 740iL. Here is a pic of the day that i bought her at the previous owners house.
I haven't run the carfax, but I think that I'm the third owner. The guy I bought it from took pretty good care of it and had a pile of maintenance records to give. Has almost 180,000 miles on the clock and runs like a top. The PO put a new trans in it about 50k miles ago. Only needs minor things, window regulator, new rear shelf speakers, small trim parts, all the usual suspects.
No huge plans for it so far other then to fix all the little things and start piling on the miles.
