I don't think there are any bad angles on an E36, so show off the best pics of your ride that you have taken!
here are some of mine:

A practically bolt in HID Projector Retrofit for the masses... Theoretically.

Hey everybody, I'm getting closer to posting my full LED light conversion DIY with part numbers and specifications, but today I'm looking at a different lighting mod. After next week my engine will be in tip-top shape, so I'm starting to map out my HID Projector swap. I know all of you (I think you have at least) have seen the DIY for the TSX Low beam Projector Retrofit, but maybe not everybody wants to cut into their headlight housings. After looking at the dimensions and specs of a few different projectors, I've found two that might make this swap a (hell of a) lot easier. These two projectors:

http://www.theretrofitsource.com/pro...products_id=61

http://www.theretrofitsource.com/pro...oducts_id=3181

Both have mounting rings, which slide through the hole in the back of the headlamps and mount there to hold the projector, then you would have to drill four small holes to mount L-shaped brackets to hold the front, and reinstall. However, I don't have the headlight housings I need to see if this would work, so I'm wondering if anybody has the dimensions (depth, width, height) of these headlights

http://dtmfiberwerkz.com/access/smok...hts-p-472.html

If so, it'd help a lot in me deciding which projector to use. If anybody else has done it; GREAT! I'd love to see pictures and here which parts you used. When I get this retrofit completed, I'll post the parts you need, time to do it, difficulty, and instructions with pictures.

The dimensions I need are height, depth, and width of the inside of the housing, diameter of the hole at the back were the bulb wires go, and diameter of the opening in the housing where the lens pokes through (should be 2.5" or 3")

If anybody is interested, let me know and I'll do the DIY. If nobodies interested, I'll write up the DIY anyways. Either way, hope you guys like the idea. I'm also trying to look into the specifics of an HID Projector foglight retrofit, so if anybody has any info on that, I'd love to hear it!

P.S. these projectors are also about half the price of the TSX projectors used in the other DIY, not to mention these are bi-xenon, which means you would have HID high-beams also, and could use the stock high beams for something more fun, like flashing them at a party, or hooking them up with the fog lights, or painting them wacky colors. Who knows use your imagination.

Socal - can someone recommend a good shop for exhaust work? welding reinforcements?

I am living just west of LA, near santa monica. I am installing a wideband sensor and gauge and need to have a bung welded into the exhaust, and potentially an X pipe, anyone have a good recommendation for a shop?

Also, I would like to do all of the typical e36 reinforcements, so if someone can recommend a shop for that as well it would be great (bonus if the same shop will do both)

Thanks!!

Yes, it is an E3. Most likely it is a Bavaria, but that is not exactly anything special considering a Bavaria was a US market only car. It is not a 74 like you thought due to the lack of ugly bumpers, but definitely in the 71-73 range due to ugly federalized reflectors and the Bavaria badge you found in the glove box. As for it being in good shape, it is not. I will bet that car has already rusted through in many spots and there are few parts on it worth anything.

Fog lights in an Eta?

Bimmerforums - The Ultimate BMW Forum - Powered by vBulletin

Join DateJul 2012LocationLongford Mills, ON, CanPosts568My Cars1986 325

Hi guys... been thinking about possibly adding foglights to my E30. It's a prefacelift Eta, and I have the bar switch already installed.

And since its a diving board car, I need the ones that mount to the bumper, correct? Any particular recommends?

So what do I need to make them work?

I understand that the car is already pre-wired?

From the sounds of some things I found, I also need the two button fog light control? What else?

Also, electrically, from what I understand, the pre existing wiring has connectors? If I went with something aftermarket, how would I make them work?

Thanks!

ALL windows don't roll up or down

I have a 97" m3 sedan and for Christmas I got a new integrated radar detector that had to be installed in a "key off fuse" (so it turns off when the key is turned off) but the BMW fuses were much to wide so I thought to myself il just splice it into a wire under the dash. I just started testing a few random wires and a couple of sparks flew but eventually got it all hooked up and it works perfectly BUT All my windows don't work, the buttons are illuminated and when you press the button the motor doesn't click they do roll up when you hold the key in the lock position when locking the vehical. I have used the search function and everyone talks about a comfort relay which supposedly only works on 92-93 models(correct me if I'm wrong). I've checked all my fuses numerous times. The only fuse box I know of is under the hood, which number fuse should i check? Before I drive 30mins to the dealership I want to know if none has any advice.

the comfort relay is below the kick panel where the pedals are. It is on the left side and is blue. Do some research on that relay and you might be able to jump a few prongs to get some power to the windows.

Also, check the fuses again and make sure you didn't blow any of them. There should be a layout chart under the fuse box cover that will direct you to the correct fuse.

My car is doing the same thing, exact same symptoms. I also read about the lack of comfort relays on 96+ cars. The only thing I could thing of is that the ZKE module died. I picked one up on ebay and will try and replace it this weekend.

This site has a bunch of info on ZKE modules: http://www.bmwgm5.com/

I thought 92s were the only e36s with comfort relays.

OP shorted something. Testing wires and got some sparks...dude shorted something for certain.

Really thinking about picking this up for fun: http://miami.craigslist.org/pbc/cto/4250797686.html

Stock motor is no good, but the price seems right. Looking for pros-cons and suggestions for a drop in engine swap. I know E36 M3s but not the E24. I have always liked the shark lines and wanted a stick shift version. I don't really have the garage space, but might be coming into some in the near future.

Thanks
