the wife is about to get a new car, and i'm debating trading in my E39 at the same time and getting another one, but this time with a manual. curious what you guys would say its worth so i can make an informed decision on whether or not to trade in/sell privately.
2001 525i auto with 130k miles
sterling silver/dove gray
Good;
New cold weather CCV system, throttle body gasket, intake boots, and dipstick tube o-rings - ICV and DISA was cleaned up during this job too.
New o2 sensors
New intake cam position sensor
New thrust arms
New rear ball joints
New power steering resevoir
New power steering lines
New valve cover gasket
New oil filter housing gasket
new cupholders
new cabin air filters
new fuel filter & regulator
new front wheel speed sensors
new coils
new plugs
new idler pulley
new AC belt
new serp belt
new battery
new timing chain tensioner spring
rebuilt injectors
cleaned out alternator ducting
strong air conditioning
new front left swaybar endlink
new third brake light socket (they corrode for some reason over time and throw the RR brake lamp warning)
new trans fluid, filter, and pan gasket
new oil level sensor
when I say new....most all of that has been done within the last 10k miles. it also supposedly has a new stewart metal impeller water pump.
Bad;
The oil pan gasket is leaking. Not bad, just about 1 drop on the garage floor every night. i have "fixed it" with cardboard. this is DIY-able for a $10 part, or my indy said he'd charge me $500. if you're interested i can arrange to have this fixed before pickup.
Pixels on the radio are spotty ($100 repair)
Drivers side center dash vent doesn't adjust (find somebody parting out a car and pick one up for $20 - i just adjust it with a pen now)
headlights need new adjusters
i think the RR window needs a new regulator
couple buttons are cracked/broken on the HVAC control panel - you can get a new one from ECS for $60
power steering pump works fine but i think is noisy - again i'd find somebody with a wrecked car and pick one up cheap to try out
