Hey guys got an e46 320i Not long since I've had the MOT done, Been driving around town the car is an automatic (I never really use the handbrake at all) , Started to hear a really loud Knocking,Banging noise from the rear of the car, Was starting to panic and think the diff was dying, Anyways got the car jacked up and checked the diff no problems but it seams to be A,
Problem with the left rear handbrake the spring retaining pins which holds the parking brake shoes in place rear protection plate has rotted and the pins came out and ended up spinning around inside the drum of the wheel hub. The knocking was the same frequency as the rotation of the wheel.

What would be the best way to approach this I only wan't to use the car for another year then it's probably going to be scrapped after this years MOT and Tax runs out or i will give it to my brother to use, Been reading around the forums and people are saying it's a right pain of a DIY job anyone have any idea thanks,
Luke.
