M30 Upper Timing Cover Massive Oil Leak Fixed

Massive oil leak between the upper/lower timing covers at the head gasket extension. Not much loss of oil while running due to manifold/crankcase vacuum but it was leaving a 6-8" puddle when parked overnight. With the upper cover removed, there were obvious signs oil was weaping over the top surface of the head gasket and the fiber gaskets on either side were brittle. The timing chain was carrying gobs of oil upwards, which would pool when shut off. Synthetic oil exasperated things.

The headgasket is still pliable. I cleaned everything up and used Permatex Ultra Copper on the upper/lower and headgasket faces and new gaskets on the sides with regular gasket cement. All back together and running. No leaks so far. Time for a celebratory brew . . . hmm . . . Firestone Union Jack IPA or a Sculpin? Better have one each. My kingdom for a Pliny or Blind Pig.
