im trying to get my car that i bought about a week ago working in the right way but im having issues. so the engine is vanos ( or so it looks like it ) and the harness and ecu is to a non vanos ,i got the car running but ever since i noticed misfiring, i was trying to figure out why it misfires and that is how i came across the harness being a non vanos harness because the vanos solenoid had no plug to connect into, i found out by taking it all apart. So i assumed that i needed a 413 ecu non ews and the harness to go along with it, so i went ahead and got ecu and harness. it comes out that the cam shaft sensor on the heads has a different type of plug at the end, to a non vanos.so i went and got the right one the fit the plug to the harness, a vanos cam sensor. well when i pulled out the cam sensor that it originally had i seen that they were different because the one that i got that is vanos stuck out a lil bit when i put it in. so i was, and still am kinda confused, i dont know if they put vanos on it or just used a vanos plate to do the job......and when i took off the vanos solenoid to get to the sensor ,i seen that it did not fit right , the the corners where you use the wrench to screw on the solenoid were scraping the heads. so this threw me into confusing even more.so then i pulled off the valve cover and looked at the vanos and it looks like it goes to it, but then i noticed some grinding on the edges of the heads.. so right now i dont know what to do.
my questions are,
if the vanos was added how would i be able to remove it?
if i used the vanos cam sensor would it still work.?
what do you think happened here?
any ideas?
