Just doing some driving last night when I noticed an engine screeching / grinding sound above 1k rpm did a lot of stop and go driving leading up to it, drove home slowly and went to bed since it was dark out. Drove around a bit this AM and it was gone, but now is back, the sound is loud enough to be heard while driving and can be heard over exhaust (muffler delete), when I pop the hood and push the throttle body to rev the engine I can't pinpoint where its coming from, hopefully its just a bearing on one of the accessories, but can't tell. Dealership wants $125 to just look at it, the official shop in my area that specializes in BMWs is closed on the weekend, so is there any way to find out what the issue is? I'm attaching a video with the sound hopefully it can be heard. If I had to try something soon I would maybe try to run the engine with the serpentine belt off to determine if it's an accessory, what would that involve?
Loud screeching from engine bay above 1k rpm
