Ladies and Gents,
I've tried the search but no luck.
I've seen the odd post on other sites suggesting a 325i/M20B25 will not start if the oil pressure sensor wire (not the oil level sender wire) is disconnected.
This doesn't make sense to me. It seems to me like the switch would illuminate the dash panel bulb by closing the circuit to engine block ground in a low-pressure condition; thus open circuit would be the normal adequate-pressure condition, and a disconnected wire would read just like the adequate-pressure condition.
I'm hoping someone could confirm the motor would start with the lead disconnected. The reason I ask:
I am finishing an M20B25 motor swap. The sucker just won't start. I replaced the stock oil pressure sensor with a VDO combination pressure guage sensor and idiot light, and it's inconvenient to go back to stock at this point. I wired the idiot light terminal of the VDO pressure sensor to the stock wire.
