So I just bought an 86 325es and the main issue is overheating.
replaced the fan clutch
it doesn't wiggle so water pump should be fine
tested thermostat in boiling water, opened, new o-ring
no coolant leaks
radiator has no flow issues in either direction(pumped water through both ends)
bled system multiple times and after each opening of system until zero bibles or air, about 10 minutes each bleed with varying throttle and keeping front of car up hill
Checked coolant for oil, found none
did "sizzle test" to check for coolant in oil. None
finally took out thermostat and car still gets hot but not into the red unless I push it.
No smoke from tailpipe
im pretty stumped at this point to be honest. Thx for any real help guys.
