03 BMW 545i

I have an 05 545 I BMW my problem is it will shut off sometimes when I'm driving but the dashboard still has light and power to it. It also will shut off sometimes well and park. When I try to start it it the key will turn but will not crank and when I do that there still power to the dashboard does anyone know what this might be
