Replaced MAF, cylinder misfire and lean condition.

I have a 2003 X5 3.0 with 300k miles. I purchased the car with a bad MAF, the plastic leading down to the probe of the sensor was visibly damaged. I read about the Hyundai sensors and purchased a new one. I figured out the Hyundai sensor housing was smaller, so I removed the sensor from the housing and installed it into my BMW housing. On first installation, the car ran GREAT. I had been battling a bad shifting transmission and some wonky power steering but it all went away. On the first drive it was idling kinda erratically but after 8 miles or that smoothed out after the engine got to temp. No SES lights remained either.

On the drive home problems started, the erratic idling returned. The car hesitated from stops and the SES light came on. When I got home I noticed the voltage was jumping up and down at idle, but it was jumping between 300-900 RPM. The running condition deteriorated rapidly in my driveway. As of now its not running well enough to drive. If I unplug the MAF, all is well again. The thermostat also seemed to be stuck open, the car never got to full operating temp.

Right now I have lean conditions on both banks.

I have misfires on 4 cylinders.

I sprayed the entire intake system with carb spray, found no intake leak.

sprayed all over the CCV well, no leak found.

removed oil cap, no real suction from CCV.

Right now I am thinking I need to toss this MAF and get a BMW 3.0 one. I understand now that the Hyundai is only for the 2.8L and lower motors. But I am also wondering if that with the new MAF, I might be picking up issues from somewhere else as the system is no longer in a default mode. What else should I be looking at?
