whats up guys been doin a lot of research and searching and have found a lot and i mean a lot of good info on what Im trying to accomplish. I want to build an m20 that is prepped for a turbo. I say prepped because medical expenses bla bla just dont have the cash to shell out on a nice turbo and intercooler ect. at the moment but I want to build my m20 metal head gasket, studs ect. run it like that for until i can afford some goodies. anyways I just found a super eta motor the 88 325e motor for cheap
and heres what i have already,a complete i head with cam springs ect and a chip
now the fun part is i have just picked up a 71 2002 that im planning on putting this into along with a getrag 260 for the trans and making a drifter out of it.
I do have a bunch of questions even after all my research, what type of turbo (size) would be good for my application? and i belive i did the z3 steering rack into my e30 years ago does anyone have any info at all on a rack swap for a 02?
also how much boost is safe with a metal gasket in studs v the stock gasket? Ive seen a lot of guys online stating they are running crazy boost on the stock gasket which made me skeptical of most info ive seen.
will I need any headwork done to accomidate large ammount of boost? besides metal gasket and bolts? dont really want to o-ring the block
say a 2.7 running high but safe boost, stock cam, how much power am I looking at here. thanks guys! and when i do all this work ill post pics and makea nice write up so look foreward to that:buttrock
