I have a 1998 318ti 4cyl w/ manual trans, getrag 250, it was popping out of 2nd on the downshift so i installed a getrag 250 out of a 7/96 318IS. install went smooth but now the shifter comes up through the console about 1-2 inches foreward of where it used to. i first/third/fifth the shifter almost hits the front of the console and 2/4 is about where neutral used to be? i thought it would be a straight swap, is the placement different because compact vs coupe? it drives and shifts through the gears fine but i also have center bearing vibrations now and wonder if trans is shorter or something and do i need a different driveshaft. is driveshaft length different between a ti and a IS. thanks.
