I was doing some digging, and I saw that the Euro/world e34s with M50s were spec'd with the same ZF 5 speed automatic that 530i models got here in the US. For the life of me I can't figure out why BMW would do that. The GM transmission is awful, the ZF one really isn't too bad at all, though. I would much rather live with the ZF on a daily basis, in fact, for a DD I'd rather have that than a manual since I live in the city and drive an hour or more a day. Does anyone have more information on this subject? I did a lot of searching and really couldn't turn up much.
