I've been heavily researching the steps to do an S52 swap into an 80 320is. I am looking at a full Engine, trans, and harness from a 97 M3 at the moment. I have a decent grasp on what all is involved, but have a couple remaining questions.
First and foremost, the speedo, from what I understand most swaps of this nature use gps and leave the speedo out of it. I really am not keen on this. Looking at e21 diff conversions with E36 internals, the best concept I've come up with is to perhaps do the swap, and install the speed sensor into the E21 case. Then retrofit an E30 Speedo in the instrument cluster. The other idea is to swap the entire e36 diff, though I'm unsure how viable either option is. Any good options that I'm missing on this?
Second, the wiring diagrams I have pulled off Alldata are good for the E36, but rather vague on the E21 side. Is there a good source for diagrams or even a write up on splicing the harness?
