Starter flywheel

Hi all,





turning the ignition to "start" - car cranks, but does not turn the engine. I can hear the starter spinning. Not clicking, spinning. Reminds me of the old (very old - perhaps unknown in the US) toy cars you had to reverse-charge, then let go and it went by itself on a flywheel.



That's how the starter sounds. I imagine it starts spinning, but the gear (or whatever transforms the power to engine) is not connected to the engine.



Any feedback before forum downtime is greatly appreciated.
