Electrical gremlin?

I was out driving my '98 740iL with no problems today. At my last stop, I started the car and noticed the trip odometer had reset, as well as the date and time on the center console information display. Everything has been, and continues to run, without problems. Headlights working, dash normal brightness, etc. At home I restarted the car and it didn't seem slow cranking (and the displays didn't reset)... will try it again in the morning with a voltmeter on the battery.



I suspect that I need a new battery soon, if the voltage during cranking is actually dipping and the electronics are getting confused. Does this sound appropriate? The DSP settings and radio presets (factory stereo) were all intact. Just the trip odo and digital clock. :confused



Anybody seen this before?
