Hello. I am thinking about purchasing an old beat up 2002, removing the engine and putting in a more powerful one. I would like to use an M62 out of an e39 540i. However, I have a few questions.
1. Will the car understeer? the weight difference between the M10 and the M62 is ~150 lbs. Is that enough to alter handling significantly? Will I need new springs?
2. Will the engine fit? Have other simiarly sized V8's fit in the past?
3. Is the M62 the best engine (I want a V8, but anything with similar power, +/- 30hp, that is lighter will work) for the swap?
4. I'll probably need a new diff. If so, what do you recommend?
5. Is there an easier / better V8 or I6 swap?
