For all those nav lovers there is a new product and unlike other options this mentions there is no need for fancy coding et al and a simple install/replacement of the new screen and seems to integrate with the existing i-Drive interfaces.
I am planning on trying this, just wanted to know if anyone else tried or has additional information. I will post the post install results later. I am not sure if this can be extended to support backup camera.

The only other option is to replace the car OR stick a smartphone/GPS device on the dash until now.
