Custom Projects

Hi everyone,

I don't post too much on here as I never do anything with my X5. For me, it is simply a daily driver to keep mileage off of the sports cars. However, over the last two weeks I have realized that daily driver or not, it could be fun to play around with. So, in just two weeks time I've given it a LOT of attention!

Here is what I've done in 14 days:

Exterior

Polished the Headlights (I had the typical E53 hazing)

Chrome Bezels for the Fog Lights

Re-Finished the Grill in Silver like the 4.8is

Chrome Door Handles

Powder Coated Red Brake Calipers

Smoke Side Marker Lights

Crystal Clear & Red Taillights (I already had the OEM clears but liked the crystal effect better)

Removed the engine size fender badges and replaced them with the more modern "X-Drive" units

Replaced all standard Roundels with Black Carbon Fiber versions (to match an upgrade listed below)

Interior

OEM All Weather Floor Mats (kept originals as well)

Finished Door Lock Bezels in Titanium Silver

Added OEM Aux Port Kit (to do this, I had to buy a CD unit from a 2003+)

Chrome Gauge Rings

Red Gauge Needles

Finished Gauge Needle Caps in Titanium Silver

Replaced all Burlwood Trim with Carbon Fiber (dash strips, center console, ashtray, front door trim, shift knob, rear door trim, rear cup holders, etc)

Re-finished the shift bezel in Titanium Silver

Black Carbon Steering Wheel Roundel

OEM Carbon Fiber Sport Steering Wheel

Here are some photos showing some of the upgrades I've done:
