2007 bmw 328i steering lock

Hi everyone I am new to this forum and I really need help my car has a symbol that says steering lock and it's red my car drives fine and starts fine it has 72k miles also a message comes up sometimes saying transmission malfunction and then it goes away and it comes back only sometimes only when I first turn it on
