E36 Front Sway Reinforcements

So I searched on the board here and on internet and I am not seeing really anything related to this issue. My mechanic says an upgraded bar in front will rip the tabs off the car, ok, but why is bavauto the only place I can source for the "proper" reinforcement? $50 for both seems a bit pricey no? Thoughts...?
