The 2003 540 that I am looking at is Blue (exterior paint). However, the battery compartment is in a primer color rather than being painted the same as the exterior color. Is this normal or indicative of a repair job? Did BMW try to cut costs by not painting hidden areas of the car, as I've seen with other car manufacturers? However, I have seen e39 cars with the battery compartment PAINTED. I will have a closer look of the entire trunk area but wanted to ask the experts :)
