(92 318i) replaced wheel bearing front and back bearing on the left side as well as rims, tires and the 4 sway bar links, rear shocks and mounts.
I was wanting to tackle the odd alignment that forces me to place the twelve o'clock position at three o'clock in order to go straight. It drives like an old time car at an amusement park where your constantly re-adjusting.
Tried to get the alignment done at three shops only to hear three excuses as to why they couldn't do it.
I tried the string method, and they were perfectly inline. The back was 1/16th out further than the front of the tires (toe in I believe)
The steering flex disc looks to be in good shape. Although it looks slightly out of position when compared to my other e30. On my 90 325i it has fine alignment and the same piece sits in the position on the 318 when the steering wheel is held in the 3 o'clock position.
I will suck it up and take the car to the dealer for an alignment regardless, but is this a piece that fails in such a way or is there anything else I should look at? My main concern is not thrashing the new tires.
