09 X5 A/C Compressor Locked Up????

Wife came home last night and decided to tell me that she heard a loud squealing coming from her X5 3.0 sport in the morning and on the drive home the A/c wasn't working. I went out to find melted rubber everywhere under the air hose intake and a semi locked up compressor (would turn 350 degrees either direction but not full turns). Am I missing something here? I checked the puller fan on the radiator to make sure it was working and it is, I am just really shocked that the compressor went out with 68k in mileage. I didn't buy this from BMW so no CPO, I called a reputable A/C shop and was quoted $1800. They stated the Condensor would more than likely have to be replaced as well due to the compressor more than likely shooting metal into it when it gave out (makes sense). My question is where does everyone recommend the best place to buy the Compressor, condenser, and drier from (Pelican, Bavauto???) ? Any other comments or suggestions, I am pretty versed at wrenching and have removed my fair share of A/C compressors and such. Thanks guys.
