Angel Eyes

Hey guys I have a 530i e39 and I noticed my LED angel eyes are not working, and the orange blinker light next to them is on (I'm assuming to take the place of the angel eyes). When I remove the halogen bulb from the headlights and I press the bulb, the angel eyes come on for a few seconds then turn back off. I have noticed they have dimmed down quite a bit since I first installed them and I've had them for about a year now. Are they just old and need to be replaced? Thanks guys
