Ouch!

So I was driving home across the I-90 floating bridge the other weekend and took a paint can in the nose at 70 mph. Boy did that get my attention.

The good news is that the can must have been plastic, because it left only a(nother) small ding in addition to a white smear on my clear vinyl bra, which is overdue for replacement anyway.

The bad news is.... not so bad, thankfully. My wheels picked up a fair bit of the white interior latex paint and sprayed a fine mist of pinpoint spatters across both sides from the door handle down. Oh, and I must have been sporting a bit of a rooster tail for a short while, because there are more spatters on my rear bumper behind the tires.

My question is: what method do the experts recommend for removing this collection of faux road rash? I could gently scrape it off with a fingernail, but that would take a week. Do I need to go as far as buffing it out with a fine rubbing compound, or can the BMW paint take scrubbing with one of those sponges with a rough plastic surface?

May thanks in advance for your collective expertise.

(PS props to anyone who recognized the homage to Gibson in the first line. I love that guy.)
