Convertible top Cover Motor won't re-engage?

I'll be honest, I don't know jack about cars

But whenever i have a problem with anything i know i can always come here, but i have yet to see anything about my problem here yet. So being the moron that I am i knew that my top was having problems, and my friend/mechanic said he believed he had fixed it so he went ahead and put it down. when coming home and putting it back up it got stuck again the way it had before, so i pulled the lever under the back seat and put back the tonneau motor as should be but the other cover motor wouldn't snap back into place as it had before

I know how when putting it back into place when you pull it towards you it should go down then snap right? well it just goes down and clicks when it reaches the bottom and doesn't click back into place

Any thoughts on what I need to do? cuz right now it looks like i'm stuck with the top down with Rain, so i don't have a car until this is all fixed
