98 BMW M3 Dakar - Sedan

98 BMW M3 Dakar - Sedan

I bought the car in March of 2012,I am the second owner. It just turned over 208K. Local shop has maintained the car for most of its life from previous owner and with me. Engine doesn't show any degradation, I have Blackstone Labs test the oil about once a year Clutch and transmission are in fantastic shape, zero slip. I've up kept the car very well - it currently runs 10w40 Mobil One full synthetic, and has most of its life. ( previous owner began this ) If anything went wrong I replaced with better. Below is what I have done to the car.

March 12, 2012 - bought car, came with K&N Intake, Bilstein Shocks

April 6th, 2012 - rear tail light issue - Headlight switch replaced, fixed problem

June 15th, 2012 - H&R Springs bought and installed.

Aug 20th, 2012, Hawk HPS brake pads

Nov 28th, 2012 - Powerflex RTAB, replaced valve cover and valve cover gasket (valve cover broke on the first try due to over tightening). Iridium Spark plugs, Misomoto all aluminium Radiator, silicon hoses, 80 degree thermostat, Stewart water pump. Fan deleted, electric fan installed ( no longer in car - stopped working, but car runs dead perfect - even on the hottest days in traffic). Car didn't have a cooling problem at this point, however is a weak point and didn't want to take chances.

Dec 3rd, 3012 - Deleted SAP, SIM installed, no errors.

Dec 6th, 2012 - Shark Injector - Stage one

Feb9th, 2013 - AA Repllca exhaust, including mid pipe. - -02 SIMs installed, no error codes.

June, 2013 - Rebuilt front calipers, installed steel braided brake lines front and rear. Rear shock tower reinforcement plates - Rogue Engineering.

Sept 1st, 2013 - Guibo replaced - vibration persisted, replaced motor mounts (OE) and Transmission mounts (UUC poly) problem solved.

Oct 14th, 2014 - New tires - Dunlap DZ101 - probably less then 500 miles on them currently

Hawk HP+ brake pads are currently on it, unsure the date put on, about half life.

Clay bar and wax the car the beginning of winter and beginning of summer.

Few things to add that I have received questions on

Radio back light does not work well, can see in certain lights. Speakers are in pretty good condition, some voices seem to be tough for it, music fine.

Hood pins are not reversible.. Dont know how this has become a common question. Reason for them is the release wire is broken. ( expensive fix - $580 )
